This information is provided based on conversations with the state sales tax department, and is not guaranteed to be 100% accurate. All official answers must be received from the State of Maryland. The state works with us to automatically send you your registration. You need take no action to receive this registration and return form. Maryland generally requires all persons engaged in sales to collect sales tax and remit it to the state treasury. More information can be found at the State Comptroller's Web Site about the sales tax in Maryland. For questions about sales tax for used "flea market" items, and sales tax in general, the state has provided a fact sheet. If you wish to register for a permanent license, you can do so on the Maryland License Registration System. You can get a 30-day permit by calling the Special Events Section at 410-767-1571. You can also talk directly with a person in the state office by calling 410-767-1543 or x1544. TAILGATERS, TAKE NOTE: IF you purchase tailgate space and do not sell anything, you are still required to file a report with the state because we are required to report a list of all our vendors and tailgaters to them.
